Clare O'Connellcello
Clare O’Connell is a cellist who is passionate about and specialises in playing chamber music. She is a member of CHROMA, Lontano, The Storytellers Ensemble, The Harborough Collective, Propellor Ensemble, and most recently the Le Page Piano Trio. She set up and curates her own intimate series of chamber music concerts in Berkhamsted, experimenting with varying instrumental line-ups, and interweaving music poetry and storytelling to add another dimension to the concert going experience, and for which she has commissioned new works from Leonardo Margutti and Luke Bedford.
She has programmed and produced CHROMA’s first own label album ‘Folk Tales’ which she conceived and recorded with David Le Page and Ian Watson and she is about to complete 'Samvaad', an album of Indian and Balkan inspired music with David Le Page and drummer Eric Ford. Clare has most recently written and curated a theatrical retelling of Nikolai Gogol's Night Before Christmas interwoven with Russian and Ukrainian music for bass baritone/storyteller, violin, cello accordion and clarinet.
She regularly plays all over the UK - recent highlights include a solo performance at the Globe with actress Deborah Findlay and a duet with a nightingale in the middle of the Sussex countryside for Sam Lee’s Singing With Nightingales series.
