Cath Leechviolin

Catherine Leech was born in Buckinghamshire and began learning the violin at the age of four. She studied Music and French at the University of Sheffield and then as a post-graduate violinist at the Royal College of Music. She graduated with Distinction in 1997 and went on to further study at Birmingham Conservatoire where she was awarded The Worshipful Company of Musicians’ Silver Medal.

Catherine performs nationally and internationally as a chamber musician, soloist and orchestral player working with groups such as Chroma, The Le Page Ensemble, The Adderbury Ensemble, The English Mozart Ensemble, Orchestra of the Swan and The Harborough Collective. In 2004 she formed The Le Page Duo with husband and violinist David Le Page. They perform together regularly and are currently recording much of the repertoire for two violins including works by Vivaldi, Bartok, Prokofiev and Rawsthorne. Concerto performances include double concertos by J.S. Bach, Malcolm Arnold, and the world premieres of Paul Patterson’s ‘Allusions’, and ‘Residuum’ by Tansy Davies. In 2009 they performed the UK premiere of John McCabe ‘Les Martinets Noirs’ in Hereford Cathedral at The Three Choirs Festival.
